Hi, I'm Scott Fredericks!
I like solving interesting problems, making cool stuff, and sharing what I learn.
My Philosophy
- Cross-Discipline Mindset: Combine ideas from physics, mathematics, computer science, and other fields to find novel solutions to difficult problems.
- Ownership and Adaptability: Take ownership of outcomes, build deep understanding from first principles, and treat challenges as opportunities to grow.
- Shared Understanding: Commit to intentional mentorship and make advanced knowledge more accessible over time.
My Interests
Programming
Python is my go-to choice for most projects. I also work with Rust, JavaScript, C++, and other languages. Beyond writing code, I have professional experience with testing, DevOps, feature planning, and UX.
Physics and Mathematics
I've always been drawn to foundational theory, especially geometric approaches to quantum gravity including geometrodynamics and noncommutative geometry. I also have some experience with mathematical crystallography from my work on PyXtal.
Education
I enjoy teaching and mentoring others. Through my blog and other content, I aim to visualize complex ideas and make their core concepts accessible to everyone.
Game Dev
I first experimented with game dev after receiving a copy of QuickBASIC on a CD in junior high. Since then, I've built demos in various languages, and remain interested in creating larger projects using Godot, Bevy, or PICO-8.
